How can you treat dry mouth?

Dry mouth or dry mouth is a state of lack of saliva flow in the mouth. If left untreated, dry mouth can cause problems with eating, talking and causing bad breath (halitosis). It can also increase periodontal disease and cause an increase in the number of tooth decay.
If dry mouth is caused by certain medications, the doctor may adjust the dose or replace it with another medication that does not cause dry mouth. Your doctor or dentist may also open a mouthwash to partially clean your mouth and keep it moist. If it doesn't improve, drugs called Pilocarpine (SalagenTM) and Cevimeline (EvoxacTM) can help stimulate the production of saliva in the mouth, or it may be prescribed by your doctor.
Other measures that can help produce saliva include:
Drink plenty of water to keep your mouth moist and moist
Stop using tobacco completely.
Do not use mouthwashes that contain alcohol because they will dry the mouth.
Reduce alcoholic beverages.
Chew with sugarless candy or sugarless chewing gum.
Brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste, use fluoride-containing mouthwash, and visit a dentist regularly for routine inspections to protect your teeth.
Avoid caffeine-containing foods because it reduces the amount of saliva in your mouth.
Add a humidifier to your bedroom to increase the humidity in the air.
Breathe with your nose as much as possible instead of breathing with your mouth.
