HU-FRIEDY introduced a new titanium implant calibrator to help clinicians thoroughly and safely remove biofilms and calculus on the gingival sulcus and subgingival surfaces of dental implants.
The new titanium implant scaler has the most commonly used scaler models, including the 204SD filer, with a reversed corner design to enhance access to the distal surface; Langer 1/2 Curette, for the mandibular posterior surface; and Hu-Friedy's 1/2, 11/12 and 13/14 Gracey Mini Five Scalers, which deal smartly with deep and/or narrow pocket challenges with shorter, thinner blades and longer end handles.
In addition to a wide variety of initial instruments, Hu-Friedy's titanium implant scales bring many new features to the clinician's instrument tray. The working end is made from the same titanium alloy as the implant and abutment and is softer than stainless steel. The iconic blue-green anodized titanium oxide working end provides enhanced contrast with the abutment surface, while also distinguishing between the specialized instruments and other parts of the armament dental equipment. The instrument can also be reground to extend the life and increase the return on investment.
The new Titanium Implant Scalers are the latest in the Hu-Friedy Implant Maintenance portfolio. In 2010, the company introduced Implacare unfilled resin implantable scrapers that can repair denture surfaces without scratching or changing the crown or titanium abutment. Hu-Friedy also has a range of Colorvue probes, with a gentle and flexible resin tip for assessing dental implant patients.
