Coronary bypass surgery (or heart bypass surgery) is a surgical procedure that involves bypassing a stenotic or obstructed coronary artery by grafting another artery or vein taken from another body part.
Like some heart diseases, if a patient with coronary artery bypass surgery must receive dental treatment, he or she may experience severe pain while lying in a dental chair. This is a side effect of surgery. Antibiotics are usually not required before dental treatment unless the surgery is completed a few weeks before the dentist.
