Why Do I Snore?

Medical experts estimate that more than 30 million American adults regularly snoring. The sound of snoring or breathing during sleep is caused by the vibration of loose soft tissue arranged in the upper respiratory tract (or throat). When you go to bed, the whole body's muscles are reduced, and the throat muscles relax, causing the soft palate and uvula (the fleshy structure hanging from the top of the mouth) to vibrate with breathing and exhalation.
