Pregnant women have the risk of developing a pregnancy tumor - inflammation, non-cancerous growth of the interdental development, or inflammation of the gums. It is believed that these localized growths or swellings are associated with excess plaque. Normally, the tumor is isolated and usually shrinks after the baby is born; however, if the tumor is uncomfortable and interferes with chewing, brushing or other oral hygiene procedures, the dentist may decide to remove it.
