What are the symptoms of a toothache?

Since the symptoms of toothache may be similar to other medical conditions or dental problems, it may be difficult to diagnose the cause without a thorough dental assessment. If you notice pus near the source of the pain, your teeth may have become abscessed, causing the surrounding bones to become infected. Or pus may indicate gum disease, which is often characterized by inflammation of the soft tissue and abnormal loss of bone around the teeth.

If you have any of the following symptoms, please contact your dentist immediately:

fever
Difficulty breathing or difficulty swallowing
Swelling around the teeth
Bite
A kind of disgusting discharge
