What should I find out about my medication?

Ask your dentist what to look for after starting treatment. Ask about common side effects and what to do if you experience these side effects. Also ask about some medicines that you should not take new drugs because the medicines may interact with other prescription and over-the-counter medicines and certain foods. Ask your pharmacist for other questions you did not ask your dentist. If you are taking a different medication than the one you are taking, speak immediately.

When your dentist writes a new prescription, write down the brand name, generic name, purpose, dosage, how many times a day should be taken, and how long. Each prescription assigned by the pharmacist comes with a table of patient information describing all the medication information you need to know. Please read the form before starting the prescription, read each medication. If you take several medications, write down your diary, check your daily intake and document any symptoms.
