What should I do if the tissue of my mouth is injured?

Oral injuries include tears or cuts, puncture wounds, and lacerations on the cheeks, lips or tongue. Immediately wash the wound with warm water and take the victim directly to the Oral Surgeon Emergency Department. If you can not find an oral surgeon, you should take the patient to the hospital. Pull the tongue forward and pressure the wound with gauze to reduce bleeding from the laceration of the tongue.
