What may cause bad breath?

Certain foods - garlic, onions and other foods containing odor causing compounds - enter the bloodstream; they are transferred to the lungs and exhaled there.

Dieting - When the body burns fat, certain chemicals called ketones are released in the breath.
Dehydration, hunger and missed diets - drinking water and chewing foods increase saliva flow and remove bacteria.
Certain medical conditions and diseases - diabetes, liver and kidney disease, chronic sinus infections, bronchitis and pneumonia are several conditions that cause bad breath.
