Do I really need to use mouthwash?

If you brush your teeth at least twice daily with fluoride-containing toothpaste, use dental floss at least once a day, and have almost no decay or gum disease, you may not need to use a mouthwash. On the other hand, if you are prone to tooth decay or plaque build-up, you can use a preservative-containing or fluoride-containing rinse (rinsing fluid with an ADA seal label) after brushing your teeth. Ask your dentist if you think you need a dentist.
