Can an abscess cause a tooth to break apart?

Tooth abscesses are very uncomfortable in the mouth and can be very painful and result is not good. The source of abscesses may be tooth infections or gum infections.
The majority of abscesses originating in the interior of the teeth are caused by cavities that have already grown and have reached the medullary cavity where the nerves are located. When a cavity is large enough to reach the medullary cavity and cause an abscess, the tooth is likely to weaken and break easily
If the abscess originates from the gums, the infection may be limited to the gums or it may reach the teeth. Gum disease does not damage the teeth, but when it reaches an advanced state, it can cause teeth to fall off!
