Taking electrics to the next level

As dentistry continues to immerse itself in new technologies, Catapult Education members are asked to evaluate NSK Dental's new compact NLZ electric micro motor handpiece system. Yes, electrical is in an all-round development model in our operation room, so our group's question is: Will this increase the standard of electrical equipment? Our commentator's answer is absolute.

First of all, we all like quiet electronic devices, and the continuous trend is less noise. Ninety percent of evaluators pointed out that NSK dental handpieces are quieter than other dental handpieces, and I found this to be much quieter than any other system. When I connect handsets from different manufacturers (whose design can accommodate), it is much louder than NSK handsets. The patient hates the voice of the exercise, and the less noisy dental handpiece should make the negative experience of "drilling" much less. Taking into account the hearing loss between dentists is a continuing problem, why use earplugs when using an air turbine dental handpiece?

The next project we evaluated was the compact size of the NSK NLZ control unit, yes, it was small! The organization likes this size, and in the dental field, the smaller the size, the better. Most of us install the unit under the stand and the installation is easy because the console is separate from the main unit. The NLZ touch screen control panel is simple and intuitive to use.

Next, let's talk about the flexibility within the system. With NLZ, the system takes electrical technology to a new level, because in this unit, people can have a high-speed electrical option for preparation work, all applications are very slow, and then just press a button, It can be switched to the reciprocating motion for various endodontic procedures if required. With so many dental pulp systems moving to and from reciprocating motion, we think this is a wonderful feature. Ultimately, it combines the three most common dental preparation techniques in one place - all run by a single control panel.

The NLZ dental handpiece system NLZ is a new micromotor system that makes this unique technology possible. This leads to more powerful rotations, which are necessary with the use of today's recycled materials such as e.max and zirconia. Through this material, not by pushing the air-driven drilling, electricity, with their high torque, carefully cut through these materials, with little effort. I found that this system has more torque than other appliances. One of the great advantages of electrical equipment is that they cannot work through turbines. Therefore, these harder materials that cause damage to air-driven turbines are not reliable for electrical equipment. Increasing the warranty period during the two-year bumper warranty period is enough to say on this issue.

I remember when I got the first fiber-optic dental handpiece, although I was excited about the lights, I wanted more lighting (we're not all?). Fiber optic light is very bright - in fact, the brightest one I have evaluated - it is easier to work in the back of the mouth. You will never have enough light! I think this has had a huge impact on the provision of care.

Finally, some new findings were added to this new dental handpiece. NLZ has a "reverse angle check function" that eliminates "hot handpieces." It was developed to prevent overheating of the dental handpiece's head resulting in burns. Operators usually do not know that this has happened. This may be due to gear wear and/or improper maintenance. If the NLZ handpiece overheats during operation, the rotor will automatically slow down or close. So far I have seen this situation and I found this feature to be a good security feature. The handpiece is very "smart" because it can recalibrate and correct the torque during use.
