Once the root canal treatment is complete and there is enough time for the teeth to recover from infection or inflammation, the teeth should return to normal function. Signs and symptoms of failed root canal treatments include sensitivity to cold or heat, swelling, and/or pain when chewed. A follow up by a dentist or endodontologist is required to determine further treatment to resolve the symptoms.
