Is there a home remedy for oral herpes?

Acetaminophen (Panadol) or anti-inflammatory drugs such as Excedrin (Advil, Motrin) are used for fever and muscle soreness. There is data that acetaminophen may trigger the development of some asthma in children, so parents should check with their child's pediatrician before using non-prescription drugs containing acetaminophen.
Drink plenty of liquid to prevent dehydration.
Avoid physical contact with lesions and any disease secretions.
For mild infections, self-care may be sufficient for treatment. Other treatments called "home remedies" are not considered cures, but they can ease or accelerate recovery. These remedies include aloe vera gel, corn starch paste and tea or mint leaves. Cold compresses can relieve pain. The infection cannot be cured. People with severe symptoms of infection, especially children, should be evaluated by a health care provider.
