Unfortunately, everyone is at risk of contracting HSV-1. Most children between the ages of 6 months and 3 years old will come into contact with HSV-1 only through contact with others. By the age of 14-49, about 60% of the population was infected. By the age of 60, about 80%-85% of the population was infected with HSV-1.
