How do I control bad breath?

Practicing good oral hygiene is important, such as brushing your teeth and flossing at least twice daily. Correct brushing, including the brushing of the tongue, cheeks and mouth of the roof, will eliminate bacteria and food particles. Use floss to remove accumulated bacteria, plaque and food that may get trapped between the teeth. To reduce the odor, use a toothbrush or tongue cleaner to clean the tongue, this plastic tool will scrape off the bacteria on the tongue. Chewing sugarless chewing gum also helps to control odor. If you have a denture or a removable appliance, such as a retainer or mouthguard, thoroughly clean the appliance before returning it to the mouth. Talk to your dentist before using mouthwash, deodorant sprays or tablets as these products only temporarily mask the odor, and some products perform better than these.
