Internal buccal wounds include tears, stabs and cheeks, and lacerations of the lips or tongue. Wounds should be immediately rinsed with warm water and the injured should be taken to a hospital emergency room for necessary care. Pull the tongue forward and pressure the wound with gauze to reduce bleeding from the laceration of the tongue.
