How else does my dentist protect me?

When you first sit in your chair, the first thing you see is your dentist's hand. Wash hands at the beginning of a day before putting on gloves and touching any surface that may be contaminated.

Your dentist may use it once and then throw away any protective equipment, including gloves, masks, paper towels, suction / tip tips and needles. Dentists and their assistants can use different kinds of protective gloves. Latex or vinyl gloves are used for patient examination and surgery and are worn when the skin may come into contact with bodily fluids. Between patients, the glove is thrown away, hand washed, and a new glove is used to treat the next patient.

For cleaning and disinfecting instruments, use heavy duty rubber tool gloves. If you are allergic to rubber or latex, your dentist can wear nitrile gloves without any latex rubber protein.
