What types of problems do x-rays help detect?

X-rays can help your dentist diagnose teeth and jaw problems.

In adults, the X-ray shows:

Decline, especially the decay of the small area between the teeth
Below existing fillings decline
Bone loss in the chin
Bone or root canal changes due to infection
Dental status and location to help prepare dental implants, braces, dentures, or other dental procedures
Abscesses (infections of the roots or gums and teeth)
Cysts and certain types of tumors
In children, X-rays determine:

If the recession is growing
If the mouth has enough space to accommodate all the teeth
If wisdom teeth are developing
If the tooth is affected (can not appear through the gums)
