Your child's primary teeth usually appear at 6,7 months of age, although it may occur as early as at birth. There are 20 main teeth, followed by 32 permanent teeth, will eventually be replaced. Your child should have all his or her main teeth at the age of 3 and keep them 5 or 6 years old as they begin to loosen and fall off. This process usually lasts until the child is 12 or 13 years old. Since permanent teeth are pushing on them, primary teeth can fall off. Children aged 14 and older have 28 permanent teeth, plus 4 additional teeth, late in adolescence.
