Proper brushing takes at least two minutes - 120 seconds! Most adults do not approach brushing for so long. To understand the time involved, try using a stopwatch. Brush properly and use short, gentle brush strokes, paying special attention to gum lines, hard-to-reach posterior teeth and toppings, crowns, or other areas around prosthetics. Concentrate on thoroughly cleaning each section as follows:
Clean the outer surface of the upper teeth and then clean the lower teeth
Clean the inner surface of the upper teeth, then clean the lower teeth
Clean the chewing surface
