You may have heard of the affected wisdom teeth. These are teeth, but still "stuck" in the jaw, never to be in your mouth. In the past, many dentists left their influential wisdom teeth in their place and believed they would not cause any harm.
However, this is not necessarily true. Affecting wisdom teeth, especially the lower wisdom teeth, can cause serious problems! These affected wisdom teeth often affect the health and alignment of adjacent healthy molars. Otherwise, if your wisdom teeth are pulled out, healthy teeth may require a lot of treatment (or even complete removal).
