Dental tools have been used since the early days of civilization. As early as 7000 b.c., in the Indus valley, including today's Pakistan, artisans used a bow drill to deal with dental problems, usually used for fires or carpentry. Now, thousands of years have passed, and dentists use a wide range of professional instruments. Dentistry, as all other areas of health, continues to be strengthened by the latest technological advances. For example, laser technology is expected to replace a standard dental drill that currently causes many patients to feel uncomfortable because of their annoying sounds and vibrations.
