Loupe name: Dimension 3
Company: Orascoptic
TTL or Flip up? TTL
Magnification: 2.5x magnification
Purchase year: 2011
Approximate cost: $1400
Did the lopues have a student discount? Yes, although I don't remember how much it was (Maybe down from $1600?)
What were your first impression of the loupes? Fantastic. I choose them purely because of the weight factor (TTL; being very light) and it makes a huge difference to your clinic work.
Has that view changed in the time you have been using them? No, still love them. Thinking of buying a light now...
Best qualities of the loupes? Very light (compared to Heine, Zeiss). Easy to clean. Dont look like a dork as opposed to flip ups
Worse qualities of the loupes? Needing an extra pair of saftey glasses for some procedures. Eg, I dont use them for rubber dam or LA as its a little disorientating. Otherwise I use them for EVERYTHING.
Would you recommend them to a friend? Definately. I am all for lightness over the ability to flip up the loupes. It really will make a difference to the soreness of your nose at the end of the day. Remember, you will be wearing them for up to 7 hours a day!
If you had the choice again, would you buy these loupes? Yep. I would go for TTL again, maybe when I have a little money after graduation, go for a more expensive orascoptic TTL.
Any other comments? Not as I can recall this second.
