Vacuum forming process can be used to make most product packaging, speaker housing and even car dashboards.
The material used for vacuum molding is the traditional thermoplastic plastic, which is the most common and easiest high impact polystyrene board (butt). This is formed on wood, structural foam or cast aluminum molds that can form almost any shape. Vacuum forming can also be applied to transparent materials such as acrylic, these materials are widely used in aerospace field, such as used in the military fixed wing aircraft PCW (cabin window) and rotary wing aircraft "bubble".
