I weld 1/4 to 1/4 and 1/8 with a Miller 135 110v mig welder. I use. 035 flux kernel self-shielded mig wire. On 110-volt units, the er70-6 line and shielding gas do not have good results. The most important is to grind the surface of the weld or grind it to remove the grinding and rust. Do some test welding and try to break them in a small bottle. I can easily blow out a quarter of the material with a flux core. If you weld more than 4 inches at a time, the 110-volt welder will trip a 15-class circuit breaker because they are designed for 20 amps.
